Qanat vs Televizo: a Televizo alternative for Google TV
Qanat is a player only. Bring your own subscription. Televizo is a player in the same sense: your playlist, your channels, no bundled content. Both apps are built for the big screen, and both leave the provider side entirely to you.
The short answer
Televizo is the free player that can cast to a Chromecast, with an EPG, catch-up, sorting, search, parental control, favourites and audio and subtitle selection. It contains ads. Televizo's own strengths are the casting and the sorting, and it is a solid choice if you want to throw a channel to a Chromecast and forget about it. Qanat is the ad-free alternative: a full guide grid built for the remote, Stalker and MAC portals, separate profiles with a parental PIN, a full Arabic right-to-left interface, and the same app on an Android phone by touch.

Where Televizo is better
- Chromecast. Televizo can cast your channels to a Chromecast device, and Qanat has no Chromecast support today.
- Its listing also mentions sorting and search across your channels, and picking the audio or subtitle track per stream. Qanat has audio, subtitle and quality menus as well — it is the casting that only Televizo does.
Where Qanat is different
- No ads. Televizo's listing says it contains ads; Qanat has no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no account.
- Stalker and MAC portals next to Xtream Codes and M3U, with several playlists side by side.
- A full guide grid built for the remote, plus reminders, catch-up and timeshift to pause live TV.
- Profiles with a parental PIN, including a kids profile.
- Movies and series with resume and next-episode autoplay, and audio, subtitle and quality menus.
- An in-app mini player that keeps the channel playing in a corner while you browse, and a Qanat row on the Google TV home screen.
- Automatic ts ↔ m3u8 fallback per channel, a background channel health check, encrypted backup and restore, and sign-in by QR code with your phone.
- A full Arabic right-to-left interface with 13 languages, and phones by touch.
How to try Qanat
Qanat is free and installs in about a minute. On a Fire TV, open the free Downloader app, enter code 3328259 and confirm the install. On an Android TV box or an Android phone, download the same signed APK. The Google Play build is on the way. Qanat stays a player: add a playlist from your own provider and your channels appear. The interface is Arabic right-to-left as well as English, in 13 languages.
